Printing And Framing Tips

When it comes to printing downloadable art there are a few options to consider.

  1. Print at Home – If you have a photo printer, printing art at home is simple and affordable. Use a high quality paper or even water color paper to achieve the vintage print look. You can always Mod Podge after printing to create a textured oil painting look alike.
  2. Printing Company – Companies like Staples and Walgreens are excellent local sources to print art inexpensively. I love using Walgreens, they often have a coupon for 50% off same day prints.
  3. Thrift antique, vintage or beautiful wooden frames to display these simple fishing art etchings. If you’re unable to find a frame you love check out these two options from Amazon that are perfectly sized for display as either 4×6 or 8×12 prints.

These fishing etchings would be perfect as a Christmas or Birthday Present for the angler in your family.

The Cabin Boy Fishing

Charles-François Daubigny, 1861 – French

This etching is the quintessential little boy fishing. With the hunting scene in the background, this etching adds that vintage angler charm to any little boy’s room or woodsy cabin.

The Cabin Boy Fishing by Daubigny etching 1861

Daubigny was a French painter and engraver during the 19th century. He spent most of his artistic life painting and creating landscape etchings. In 1857 he acquired his studio boat, nicknamed ‘Le Botin’ (Little Box) in which he explored the French rivers and inspired other artists such as Monet, to do the same.

Two Anglers On A Bridge

Adriaen van Ostade, 1647 – Dutch

This fishing art print lends itself to the whimsical Winnie The Pooh novels by A.A. Mills, even though it was painted centuries beforehand. Display this etching in a little boy’s room, nursery or mud room would compliment any cozy cottage decor style.

Van Ostade was a prolific painter and etcher whose art focused around peasant life in the Netherlands. As a member of the Haarlem guild of painters his works were well known and collected throughout the 18th century. This fishing etching is one of his art pieces during his time as Dean of the Haarlem guild.

The Pond, Plate 9

“Regiunculae et Villae Aliquot Ducatus Brabantiae” Claes Jansz. Visscher, ca. 1610 – Dutch

The Dutch peasant village background oozes Old World Charm. Pair these two fishing art scenes together in a playroom, fishing cabin or homeschool office.

Pond and a Village, Plate 15

“Regiunculae et Villae Aliquot Ducatus Brabantiae” Claes Jansz. Visscher, ca. 1610 – Dutch

The two men in the fishing boat remind me of slow days spent on the water with my dad. I love how Visscher captured two idilic fishing moments. An afternoon spent fishing on the bank in plate no. 9 and in this one, a day on the water with a friend.
