Horchata Tunisian Crochet Beanie
Beautifully textured, this Tunisian simple stitch crochet beanie is the perfect accessory for those crisp winter days.

As an avid crocheter I love trying new techniques and stitches. Last winter I came across Tunisian Crochet and fell in love instantly. With the ease of crochet but the texture of knit it truly is the best of both worlds. Toni from TL Yarn Crafts has the best tutorial videos and after binging her channel, I felt confident to work up my own beanie.
Beanies are not difficult in crochet but I have never been a fan of the thick non stretchy fabric you create. Tunisian crochet offers a tighter stitch that also stretches easily.
MATERIALS NEEDED FOR A TUNISIAN BEANIE
- 100g Worsted Weight Yarn
- 5.5mm Standard Crochet Hook
- 6.5mm Tunisian Hook with Cable
- Scissors
- Tapestry Needle
As a fiber craft enthusiast I must emphasize how wonderful it is to work with a natural material, especially if your finished project will be touching your skin. Synthetic materials do not breath and can be irritating to the skin.
For this tunisian crochet beanie I chose to use one 100g hank of Knit Picks Marino Wool Twill in the color Horchata Heather. With the small amount leftover you can easily create a pom to match your project.

Mattress stitch the two sides of the beanie together all the way down. Fasten off and weave in the ends. Flip up the brim for a fisherman style, or with your leftover yarn add a pom. Whatever fits your fashion!

Creating Multiple Beanie Sizes
This beanie works up quickly and creates the most beautifully textured garment. If you wish to size up of down this pattern, do note that this was created for a women’s medium. Creating a larger or smaller beanie is easily doable as this pattern is not worked in multiples however, the decreasing rows may need to be altered based off your stitch count.
